Part "Big Trouble in Little China" set, part dealer of eastern randomness, Cargo is feast for the senses. Setting foot inside immediately whisks you out of the Pearl and immerses you in world of decorative oddities. It is a lair of mythical creatures, random pop culture signs, and expensive furniture. Easily a place to lose and hour or lose a day.
Cargo is fuel for the creative mind. For me, it's impossible to meander through without not-so-secretly hoping a large scale kung-fu fight would break out or that the stone creatures would creak to life. I imagine the space crackling with dim sum vendors, live stock, merchant hagglers, and street performers-there's some serious street market potential here. Alternatively it's a large enough space where you can avoid other customers and enjoy some quiet contemplation. Roam upstairs and you'll find further furnishings, a room within the room, and a minor collection of gamelan.
If the funky, ancient, cool, or unique is what you seek, chances are that Cargo holds at least one thing that'll catch your fancy (they even have Potato Guns!). It's a store with personality, an ADD photographer's dream, a free-admission museum of randomness, and at worst an intriguing way to waste time.
