With fall coming soon (or already being here) it's a great time to gorge on hiking. Cool but not too cold, sunny but not too hot, essentially perfect. For those looking for a quick escape from the city the journey from Horsetail Falls to Triple Falls is a moderately easy, occasionally breathtaking soul satisfying stroll. It's a place to imagine you're in "Last of the Mohicans", a place to breathe deeply, a place to stop typing, unplug, and reconnect. Ascending from the Historic Columbia River Hwy the trail begins at Horsetail Falls, winds through the rock face behind Ponytail Falls, climbs past Lower & Middle Oneonta Falls, then reaches an overlook of the stunning Triple Falls.
I could go on. But I think the pictures say it best. While it's still nice out, grab a lunch and just go.
Directions:Along I-84, take exit 28 at Bridal Veil (or exit 35 at Dodson if traveling west on I-84). Drive east along the Columbia Gorge Scenic Hwy for 5.5 miles to the signed turnout for Horsetail Falls.
